About Eleni

An artist statement:

I am a Greek-Cypriot Australian artist based in Sydney. During my travels I resided in the United States, completing short courses at the ASU Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts with electives in painting, and ceramics. My work has been included in exhibitions, events, covers, and used for promotional activities.

I perceive charcoal as symbolic. Twigs from the willow tree, extracted, and burned. The paradox? Creation stems from Destruction. By embracing the chaos, clarity is revealed.

Charcoal allows me to embody the fluidity I crave for in my process. The beginnings are loose and free form, raw emotion and movement, woven into rhythm. By gradually building up form from disorder, I uncover structure.

My work is a depiction of the human condition. It is my personal reflection of both the Light and the Dark—exploring the beauty and struggle that coexist in life. The prominent dichotomy within our dual existence: Purity and Corruption.

Besides art, I have a passion for singing and performing in both Greek and English. I have sung at community and cultural events, city busking, and participated in and won a number of Eisteddfods. I am available for live gigs, community events, and cultural festivals.
